this weekend...

On Friday night I got to hang out with one of the long term american missionaries I met in Haiti, Ruth! We (most of the Haiti team from last year and some people who are going to go this summer) had a cookout in Coolidge park and listened to our friends who were on the radio that night and took lotsa pictures! Saturday I went to dance in the morning, and went from there to the Creative Discovery Museum downtown. A group from Hilger plus Ruth and her husband went to the museum to hang out and play with some inner city kids:) . This morning I went to the Haiti team leaders' church (Ms. George) with a few friends to see Ruth before she left early this afternoon. After church my friends, Ruth and her husband, and one of the teachers at Hilger went to Ms. George's house for lunch. After that I went home to change super fast and then ran out to a 3 hour dance rehearsal.
This probably doesnt completely make sense, so sorry! Sarah told me I needed to write a blog post because she checks my blog every week....so this one's for you Sarah!! haha

...my team and i will be leaving for Haiti!!! this is one of our 2 leaders -

our whole team is meeting tomorrow at 4:15 a.m. and leaving at 4:30 sharp for the Atlanta airport!! we are flying from Atlanta to Miami, then Miami to Port au Prince, Haiti (i think)!

so i have had some exciting few days of driving (with my license/without an adult)! but so far so good:)

watch out...

...cuz I'm on the roads by myself!!!! yep, I got my license today. even i'm scared;) I took the driving test in our Prizm, which I really like and have driven a lot, but I'm not super familier with knowing where everything is. so the driving tester person told me to do my signals, and brakes, and horn and everything to make sure they worked and that was totally fine. She also asked me to turn on my lights and high beams. I knew where the lights were, but high beams? i don't even really know when ur supposed to use those. ok, I kinda do. a teeny bit. you're supposed to use them on a clear dark night where there is a lot of empty road and stuff (like Montana:)). but you're not supposed to use them in fog, or heavy traffic areas and stuff like that. so anyway, I had never used my high beams before so I didn't know where they were (I could've guessed, but I didn't want to guess wrong because that coud've turned out way bad). So I just put on every light to the car that I could find and the testing lady seemed fine with it. haha other than that, the test was fine. no big scares or anything;)

I'm leaving for Haiti in 15 days!!! sooooo excited!

hey everybody! so here's kinda a summary of my life lately:

- started back at swimming!!! I really really missed swimming in the winter and now i'm loving it!

- started back at running

- leaving for Haiti in 26 days!!!!

Oh! question! what is a good art activity to do with Haitian kiddos? Other members of my Haiti team are doing things like fancy nail painting (the girl who is doing nails is sooo talented!) and face painting and maybe one other project that I'm forgeting. ideas?

School is officially out, and we had a lovely vacation to the beach!!! this summer I'm going to be swimming, maybe running;), dancing, going on a mission trip to Haiti, babysitting, and fun stuff like that!!!! oh, and I think this summer is the perfect time take a trip to CT:)

today is my last day of school!!!!! I have a really hard world history final, but after that class i'm done! and on Friday we're going to the beach!!! Sarah told me we are going to do a girl photo shoot at the beach...and I guess I'm taking the pictures....so I may have pictures to post in a week or so;)

sorry for the lack in posts...hopefully I will be able to post more in a few weeks! before then i have exams to take, ballet rehearsals and performances, etc. last week Steve and Emilie came to Chattanooga!!!! it was really fun and Kevin came down for a few days, too so the whole fam was together!!! Sarah posted a family pic on her blog, but right now I can't find one on this computer...sorry:)

i don't know if this is really blog worthy, but I'm on antibiotics for the first time in my life!!! after a week of headache, sinus ache, ear ache!, cough, sinus pressure, clogged-feeling ears, ear pain, etc, I went to the doctor and I have an ear infection! which is kinda funny because I never had one when I was little. but now I do and the Doctor put me on antibiotics! sorry if you didn't really want to know all of that:)

last night I took cold/sinus medicine, had some chai tea (for caffiene), had some food for dinner, put my hair in a super secure bun, and got in all my dance clothes. Then I went to ballet and had 5-10 minutes to tape my toes and put my pointe shoes on. I was motivated and ready to go. We were about to walk out of the dressing room and into the studio for class when the power went out!!! We waited to see if it would come back on after a few minutes, but it didn't, so class was cancelled. So I went home, took out my hair, changed out of my dance clothes, un-taped my toes, etc. well thats my story from last night!

Here's what has been going on with me since I last posted - After packing until almost midnight, and getting up at 3:30 am, I left Montana Tuesday morning (my flight was at 6 am!!!) and got back to Chattanooga at 4 ish in the afternoon. I started back at school, ballet, babysitting, everything on Wednesday. Friday night I went to prom and afterwards bowling!!! It was really fun, but I don't have pictures... but I may be able to get some soon. On Saturday I woke up and was super sick...with a sinus infection, maybe? i dunno, but i still have whatever it is and it's yucky. Saturday afternoon I had a 2 hour, 15 min. rehearsal, and last night I babysat. I think that's most of what's been going on with me!

montana part 5

during the day yesterday Em and i made a dinner for this week, and we made giant cinnamon rolls!!! they are huge and so good. On wednesday nights Steve and Em help with the awana program at their church. Em is with the 1st graders (i think) and steve helps with the 3 and 4 year olds. I went with Steve and we put those kids in line!!! not really, they were really good. one boy there did shove purple playdough into his ear...but for the most part they were all really good. oh, and last night S & E got their jeep!!! so today Em and I went to the Montana store, and to get tea at Five Loaves (a cute coffee shop in Great Falls). and tonight Steve is renting a movie and we're just gonna relax and eat cinnamon rolls and yummy noodle stuff for dinner.

yesterday and monday...MT part 4

Steve went back to work on Monday (he took the weekend off) and Em and I cleaned the house, made cowboy cookies (chocolate chip cookies), and other fun stuff:) That night some friends came over for dinner, and we played games and watched the Secretariat. Tuesday (yesterday) it was snowing!!!! and that made it a snuggle day:) we made cinnamon rolls and took a lazy day:) and for dinner we had pizza and cinnamon rolls before going over to the Heine's to watch NCIS. I've been taking pictures, but I didn't bring the adapter to put them on the computer.

montana part 3

i'm just gonna throw stuff out there about today and it may not make sense.....just warning ya.
so....this morning i woke up and got ready for church. I wore a grey dress that Hope (the youth pastors daughter) gave me. she is an amazing girl....love her. with my grey dress i wore black tights so my legs wouldn't freeze and fall off, and Emilie let me borrow her black heels to go with it all:) oh, and Hope let me borrow some black and white earrings to match my outfit. and I partly curled me hair and Emilie did a 'princess hairdo' on me:) on our way to church we got bagels and donuts for breakfast. after church we came back to the house and ate deer back straps steaks!!!!! I. ate. deer. and it was really good. Emilie marinated it and Steve grilled it and it was yummy!!! we ate it with curly fries and dipped the fries in Em's special sauce (mayo and ketchup). then we went shooting at steve and em's friends' house. I got to shoot Em's .22 and it was really fun. i had never seen her gun before today and its really cool because it has pink and silver and brown in it:) after that we went to youth group (steve and em are leaders) and then dairy queen (the youth pastor was paying!). now we're finishing up a movie that we started earlier today. oh! we got some snow yesterday! it was really cool and pretty but most of it melted today. i think more's coming this week. that's all i can think of for now!

yesterday...montana part 2

yesterday morning steve, em, the puppies and I went for a walk. after our delightful walk we went into downtown Great Falls. it was really cute with a lot of old buildings and small shops. after that we went to Emilie's parent's house and stayed there for a bit and steve took a nap on their couch. While he was sleeping I stole his hat and wore it while Mr. Heine, Mrs. Heine, Em and i went to target. after target we went to pick up steve (he was taking a nap because he had just gotten typhoid shots and they made him kinda sick) and went to pick up a girl from their church's youth group on our way to a movie. we went to the movie with a few other people from the youth group and afterward got ice cream at dairy queen. then we went back to the Heine's house to say goodbye (they left for a cruise early this morning) and pick up one of their puppies to watch while they are gone. after that we came home and went to bed (it was 11:30 or 12:00 MT time, which for me felt like 1:30 or 2 my time). and this morning steve made pancakes for us and then put corn outside for bait for pigeons so he can shoot some more:)

Yesterday was a looooong day. BUT I navigated the airports without getting lost at all!!!! I was pretty surprised at myself. maybe i'm getting less blonde? haha probably not! but anyway, I have already taken some pictures that I may post while i'm here, or i may do a photo dump when i get back...we'll see. so...after my long flights (which could have been worse, there wasn't much turbulance and we didn't get delayed) I landed in Great Falls, MT at 11:30 pm ish (which is1:30 am TN time) I got off the plane to see my big bro and sister. it made the 11 ish hours of travel worth it just to see their faces when I got off the plane. oh, and I first saw snow when i was flying toward Minneapolis. I think it was about 30-35ish degrees in MT when I got here, so not bad at all:). When we got to their truck I was also greeted by the puppies:) Daisy and Riley gave me lots of wet nose kisses. We got back to the house and I have my own little area downstairs. Steve and Em put down a matteress with lots of cozy warm blankets and I have my own bathroom! Em stocked it with shampoo and conditioner and all that good stuff for me:) This morning it is about 28 degrees outside I think but it is BEAUTIFUL!!! It is so clear and i love love love the mountains on the horizon!!! so cool. for breakfast I had coffee with heavy whipping cream and brown sugar, and me and Em at leftover rice pudding that she made last night for SO good. Steve ate eggs with cheese and homemade bread that Em made with butter and honey and I stole some of that too:) oh, and this morning there were some pigeons outside and steve took his .22 (i think) and shot one!!! he was pretty proud. He got it in one shot! now i think I'm gonna shower....i look like i got hit by a train. or worse. its pretty bad. sorry if this post doesn't really make sense, i'm not proof reading it and I don't always make sense when I write down my thoughts or what's happening with me.

this is the final picture of my countdown because I am leaving today!!! my flight takes off at 5:55 pm from Nashville and I have one stop in Minneapolis, and then hopefully i'll arrive in Great Falls MT at 11:30 pm (their time, which is 1:30 am my time)!

i don't remember posting anything about this on my blog... so now i'll tell you... i'm going to Haiti this summer!!!! I'm going the beginning of July to an orphanage, www.forhisgloryoutreach.org/our_orphanage . besides being super excited about going, what reminded me to post about this is my shoulders. yesterday afternoon i went to get required immunizations for the trip, and some for college. I had to get so many that now they broke it up into two doctors visits. and they still injected two shots per arm. and now my arms are sore :~/ (oh, btw, that's my scrunchy face...like it?). but! now i am hopefully immune to four new things!
